Relax With a Runner on a Holiday
Submitted by Frankie on 8 July 2010 - 9:20am

This past Sunday, while standing on the start line stage at the FIU campus with Javier Sanchez, the voice of US Road Sports & Entertainment, and listening tothe National Anthem it dawned on me how awesome it is to run a race on July 4th. I was fired up, I didn't want to lead on my bike I wanted to run! But work first run second, unless running is your work which it is but I can't run all the time. But here's my question... Why do we runners like to celebrate our holidays by running 5K's? I have my theories based on my observations throughout the years but an attempt at explaining the reason or reasons is probably going to lead to the obvious question: why does anyone run anyhow?
