Winners Announced at Chicago's Hometown Race - The 15th Annual Chicago Half Marathon & 5K
Subway Famous Fan Apolo Ohno, world champion short-track speed-skater and winner of the fourth season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, finished with a time of 1 hour, 40 minutes and 59 seconds.
CHICAGO, IL - On Sunday, September 11, 2011 following the 15th annual Chicago Half Marathon, winners were announced after the runners hit the course beginning and ending in Jackson Park.
MALE WINNERS – The male winner, Augusta, IN native Abdelaziz Atmani, 30 years old, won the race with a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, 3 seconds. The male runner-up was Greg Costello, 30 years old, from Saint Louis, MO with a time of 1 hour, 7 minutes, 53 seconds. Cincinnati, OH native Christopher Reis, also 30 years old, came in third place with a time of 1 hour, 8 minutes and 15 seconds.
“I feel great after this race,” said winner Abdelaziz Atmani. “The course is smooth with a beautiful view. I really enjoyed the experience.” Next up for Atmani? “I’m hoping to qualify to race in the Olympics.”
FEMALE WINNERS - The female winner was Becca Prichard, 32 years old, from Boulder, CO at 1 hour, 19 minutes, 10 seconds and the female runner-up was Becca Thompson, 30 years old, from Houston, TX at 1 hour, 19 minutes, 20 seconds. Schaumburg, IL native Jean Marinangeli, 27 years old, came in third with a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes, 5 seconds.
Said Becca Prichard, the female winner, “It was a fantastic course, and the fans were awesome. My bike pacer was so nice and really helped me too. She cheered me along the entire way.”
Runners of the race enjoyed a beautiful half-marathon course along Lake Shore Drive, with views of the iconic Chicago skyline, entertainment from more than 15 different groups and numerous refreshment stations.
